DIMITRI VISHNEPOLSKY
I started learning music when I was 6, and began attending Music School #36 in Moscow, Russia in 1988. When I was 10, as a second instrument, I started playing piano. Several years later in 1995, my entire family immigrated to the USA, and I've been living in New York City since then.
In New York, I began attending Lucy Moses music school, concentrating on solo violin studies and chamber music 1995--2000. Towards the end of my high school years, I began branching out of being a classical musician and picked up the guitar and bass guitar, teaching myself to play those instruments. Around my senior year of high school, I began to compose original instrumental music and recording it on the computer by overdubbing all the needed parts. During the summer of 2000, I attended an international music festival in Saluzzo, Italy, and that's when I really caught the music bug.
In 2000 I began attending Stony Brook University, and have been playing more music than ever before. I joined the undergraduate orchestra, played with several chamber groups, and by my sophomore year began to play trumpet. I joined my first band "Four Fried Beers" during the sophomore year, and started a University Pep Band, for which I served as President and Musical Director. In 2003, I joined the university jazz band led by Ray Anderson.
After graduating college, I have been playing with numerous orchestras, and started a company band at my current job at Medidata solutions. In this band I write out horn arrangements, and other instrumental parts, as well as coach the members, and record instructional videos for them.
In 2018, after many years on the NY rock scene, I started playing guitar in Nogu Sveló!, a legendary Russian rock band. Together, we released a multitude of singles and music videos (e.g.: “Erotic Dreams”, “Zaebali”, “Ukraine”), an EP: “4 Stages of Quarantine” an album: “Perfumery”, and a vinyl record: “Golden Time”. Some of the music videos trended on YouTube and went to number 2 on YouTube charts in Russia and Ukraine and gained millions of views and downloads.
Since 2020 I have my own recording studio, where many parts of the songs for Nogu Sveló! and other projects were recorded.
As of 2023, I am performing with the following groups:
Nogu Sveló! - live performances in the US and abroad on guitar and studio work on guitar and various instruments (violin, trumpet, flute, euphonium, keyboards, melodica, vocals)
Columbia Summer Winds / Manhattan Wind Ensemble - trumpet, euphonium.
